You don’t need to overcomplicate the day. In fact, it works better when you don’t.
The morning is usually slow on purpose. You can get ready together or separately, take your time, and even write your vows while everything is still calm. A first look near your accommodation is often a nice way to start the day without rushing into anything.
After that, you head into your ceremony. This is usually somewhere quiet along the South Coast: a waterfall, cliffs, or another beautiful spot that’s easy to access and feels right for you. Most couples keep it simple here, and that works perfectly for a South Coast Iceland elopement. Some couples also choose to make the journey part of the experience and go a bit more off the beaten path. Either by taking a helicopter to a remote area or doing a short hike to a more secluded location.
Midday is where a lot of people underestimate the importance of slowing down. This is a good time to take a break, grab coffee in a cozy place, or have a relaxed lunch. It might not sound like a big part of the day, but it actually makes a huge difference in how the rest of your Iceland elopement South Coast feels.
One of my favourite parts to include is one intentional activity during this break. This is what makes the day feel like more than just a photoshoot. It can be something simple like soaking in a hidden hot spring, going for a horseback ride through black sand landscapes, visiting an ice cave or setting up a picnic. You don’t need to fill your whole day with activities, but adding just one experience like this makes your South Coast Iceland elopement feel more personal and memorable.
Later in the day, we head out again for photos. This is usually when we visit waterfalls, beaches, or glacier areas, depending on the light and conditions. Evenings on the South Coast are often the most peaceful part of the day, and that’s when everything slows down again.
