Family Photographer in Iceland

family photographer in iceland

Traveling to Iceland with your family is something you’ll remember for years. Between the waterfalls, black sand beaches, and wide open landscapes, it’s the kind of place that makes even simple moments feel special.

Many families visiting Iceland choose to book a family photographer in Iceland so they can actually be in the photos together. Instead of trying to set up a phone or asking strangers for pictures, you can just enjoy the moment with your kids while I capture it for you.

Family sessions are relaxed, fun, and all about the real moments. The laughter, the exploring, and the little in-between moments that often end up being everyone’s favorite photos.

Izabella

Hi, I’m Izabella, a family photographer in Iceland who loves capturing real family moments in some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. I’ve been photographing couples and families in Iceland for years, and I know these locations very well.

My approach to family photography focuses on real connection rather than stiff posing. During the session, I gently guide you through simple prompts and little activities that naturally bring families together. This way the photos feel candid and genuine, but you never feel like you don’t know what to do or where to stand. What I love most about family photography is capturing moments that feel meaningful and real. When you look back at these photos years from now, I want them to remind you not only of Iceland’s incredible landscapes, but also of this special time together as a family.

What a Family Photoshoot in Iceland Looks Like

Family sessions here are very natural and easygoing. There’s no pressure to pose perfectly or keep kids standing still. Instead, we keep things simple and let your family interact naturally. Sometimes that means walking together along a black sand beach, sometimes exploring near a waterfall, and sometimes just letting the kids run around while we capture those real moments.

Parents often worry that their kids won’t cooperate during photos, but honestly, that’s completely normal. Kids get curious, distracted, or tired sometimes, and that’s perfectly okay. The session flows naturally around your family’s energy. I’ll guide you when needed, but the goal is always for the photos to feel natural and relaxed.

As a family photographer in Iceland I understand that kids sometimes get distracted or need breaks. That’s why there are no strict time limits: we spend as long as needed at each location to capture real moments without prolonging it.

Locations I Love for Family Photos

Iceland has so many beautiful places for family photos. I usually suggest locations that are both stunning and easy to access, especially if you’re traveling with kids.

Some of my favorite types of locations include:

• Hidden black sand beaches
I especially love the smaller, less crowded black sand beaches that many visitors never discover. They have the same dramatic Icelandic landscape but feel much calmer and more relaxed, which makes them perfect for family photos where kids can explore and play.

• Waterfalls along the South Coast
The South Coast is full of incredible waterfalls that work beautifully for family sessions. Many of them are easy to reach and have plenty of space around them, so families can move around naturally while we capture relaxed moments together.

• Ocean views and coastal cliffs
Iceland’s coastline offers amazing open views of the ocean, cliffs, and wide landscapes. These spots feel peaceful and expansive, and they’re great for photos that capture both your family and the incredible scenery around you.

• Glacier viewpoints
Glaciers create a really unique backdrop that you won’t find in many other places in the world. Even a short stop at a glacier viewpoint can create striking photos with the ice, mountains, and rugged Icelandic landscape in the background.

Family Photoshoot Packages

I offer two simple options for family sessions in Iceland depending on how much exploring you’d like to do.

One Location Session

This option is perfect for families who prefer a relaxed session in one beautiful spot.

We spend around 30 minutes to about 1 hour at the location, depending on how the kids are feeling and how the session naturally unfolds. Sometimes kids warm up quickly, and sometimes they need a little more time. That’s completely okay.

You don’t have to worry about strict time limits. I understand that kids may need breaks or may lose interest quickly, so the session flows naturally. If we need a little more time, we take it. The goal is always to create a relaxed experience rather than rushing through photos.

You will receive:

• 25 professionally edited images
• location guidance and planning help
• a relaxed and natural photography experience
• a private online gallery to download your photos

Price: 1500 USD

Two Location Session

If you’d like a bit more variety in your photos, the two-location session is a wonderful option.

This usually means visiting two beautiful spots that are relatively close to each other, for example a waterfall and a black sand beach, or a mossy landscape and an ocean viewpoint. It creates a nice mix of scenery and makes the gallery feel more diverse and dynamic. Many families enjoy this option because it feels a bit like a small photo adventure together.

Again, there’s no need to stress about exact timing. Some families move quickly, while others like to take things slower, and we simply adjust as we go.

You will receive:

• 50 professionally edited images
• help choosing the best locations
• a relaxed and natural photography experience
• a private online gallery for downloading and sharing photos

Price: 2000 USD

What to Wear for Family Photos in Iceland

Simple outfits usually work best for photos in Iceland’s landscapes.

  • Soft, neutral tones photograph beautifully against the natural scenery. Many families choose colors like beige, cream, soft blues, greens, or warm earthy tones.
  • Layering is also very helpful because the weather in Iceland can change quickly. Sweaters, jackets, and scarves not only keep everyone warm but also add beautiful texture to photos.

Comfort is the most important thing, especially for kids.

Planning Your Family Photoshoot

Once you reach out, I’ll help guide you through the planning process. We’ll choose the best locations, talk about timing, and make sure the session works perfectly for your family.

As a mom myself, I completely understand how unpredictable kids can be, and I design sessions to be relaxed and flexible so everyone enjoys the experience. Hiring a family photographer in Iceland means you can relax and enjoy your adventure without worrying about taking the photos yourself. The goal is always to create a fun, stress-free session while capturing beautiful, natural images your family will treasure forever.
